Moldovan children front and centre of Lumos’s community space plans

In Moldova, we have recently worked to implement a project funded by Terre des Hommes Netherlands to create child-friendly areas.

We invited 26 local and refugee children in Moldova's Ialoveni and Floresti districts to two consultation sessions, where they could tell us what they wanted to see in these spaces. Computers, books, games and sports equipment were just a few of the resources they would love to have in these spaces, along with support provided by psychologists, interpreters and trainers. They were also involved in the process of suggesting convenient locations where these centres could be established.

We were really inspired by the children’s readiness to get involved and offers to even support setting up and arranging the sites they discussed.

Eugenia Godoroja, Child Youth Participant Advisor at Lumos facilitated the consultation sessions and collected all the feedback from the children to inform the project’s future development.
