Cheshire school raises over £700 for Lumos at Swimathon

A huge thank you to the incredible children of Delamere CofE Academy who raised over £1800 through a sponsored swim for four charities, including Lumos!

We are incredibly grateful to have been chosen as one of the four charities by the pupils themselves and we want to say a big well done to the children who together swam an amazing 129,425 metres.

Reporting further, Northwest Academies Trust added:

"Over 180 pupils dove into the deep end and were given 30 minutes to swim as many miles as they could, over a period of three hours. Year 5 teacher Clare Wild spoke of the children’s stroke of genius: “They did absolutely amazing, I’m so impressed with how far they swam, especially when you consider you’ve got children of four and five-years-old taking part as well.

“I sat down with them and said, you’ve picked your four charities, you now need to raise some money, what ideas are you going to come up with?

“They came up with sponsored silences, runs, jumps and then the swim. It was then put to the staff team to see which one would work best.”
