Lumos transforms care systems for children around a simple truth: every child belongs in a family where they can thrive and grow.

For more than 20 years we have proven that family separation can be prevented, and children can return to families. When it’s not possible for a child to stay with or return to their family, we’ve made sure they are cared for in an alternative family setting like foster or kinship care – not an institution. The opportunity that every child deserves to thrive in a family is already possible, we now need to make it inevitable.

At Lumos we work with governments, global and national partners, communities, children and their families – shaping how care reform is resourced, convening the actors who will drive change, building the capability to sustain it, and delivering scalable and sustainable change. In doing so we demonstrate what is already possible and put into motion benefits that don’t stop with one child: they multiply into healthier families, stronger communities and a more resilient society.
