Lumos gives tablets and developmental games to Ukrainian children

Lumos recently hosted an event in Zhytomyr, Ukraine, for children with disabilities, orphans and children otherwise deprived of parental care from displaced and other families.

The event was organised in cooperation with the regional Department of Education and Science and the NGO coalition In the Interests of Children.

During the event, 40 children received tablets and developmental games which are key for high-quality education, particularly for children who are learning remotely or in a hybrid environment.

Yaroslav, Lumos Ukraine County Manager, present at the event.

Children and their parents or caregivers also received mine protection training which was conducted in an accessible, interactive and participatory manner.

“For our family, with unaffordable costs for the treatment and rehabilitation, it is not possible to provide our child with special needs with such a modern tablet and games for development that they received from the Lumos Foundation today! You offered joy to my child, and this unearthly happiness for children and us as parents” - Nina, mother of a child with disabilities.
"Because of the war, our family was forced to flee from our home in the East of the country, leaving absolutely everything we had. To provide learning to the child, a tablet was urgently needed. Thank you, Lumos, for such a necessary gift for our child. The gift will become a universal assistant to my son." - Tetiana, IDP and mother.

On behalf of Lumos, Yaroslav (Ukraine County Manager) reiterated our commitment to continue supporting Ukrainian children to make sure they grow up in safe and loving families.
