Lumos Raises Quarter Million Pounds in a Week Through Generous Supporter Donations

We are delighted to announce that in just one week (31st May – 6th June) we raised an incredible £250,000 through the overwhelming donations of supporters from around the world and the match funding from our Founder and Life President, J.K. Rowling. Thank you!

This remarkable fundraising success, which would enable up to 10,000 children in Kenya’s most vulnerable regions move from institutional care into loving family environments, follows increased attention to Lumos’ vital work around the world, much of which has been generated through the involvement of our Founder. J.K. Rowling’s continued dedication to the cause has helped shine a spotlight on Lumos’ mission to ensure that every child grows up in a safe and loving family, instead of an institution.

We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our supporters. These funds will make a real difference to children at risk of being separated from their families and to those who have been separated from their families.

The additional attention brought to our work through J.K. Rowling’s involvement has been invaluable in reaching new supporters who share our vision. Donations from just 10 people donating £10 each would supply educational materials to a war-affected child in Ukraine, allowing them to continue learning while staying safely with their family during the conflict.
